Marian got a Klutz potholder (and other loopy crafts) kit, she made 2 of them and then Tobin wanted a turn. He sat there weaving the entire thing, his focus amazed us.
We got this amazing deal on about 20 lego sets in a giant container at a garage sale about 2-3 years ago. The mom even had all the instructions in a ziploc bag, we were finally brave enough to let them have it for Christmas-boy can they spread out!
This boy constantly has a ball he is throwing or kicking, he wanted me to take a picture of it in mid-air:)
Every year we take a family picture, usually in front of the tree and usually a frantic one just before the tree comes down because we forget until then. We’ve been doing this since Kelly & I had our first Christmas together 13 years ago. I have a little 4×6 red velvet photo album that I put the picture in. And, I love getting it out every year to see how the kids have grown and how our family has changed over the years. One of my favorite (and easiest) of Christmas traditions:)
Noah spent the day with us during break, I’d like to say that I found them this way but the truth is, they were acting a bit crazy and I needed them to settle down so told them they had to have some quiet reading time. Don’t they look sweet!
We were so excited to be able to spend some time with our friends Mark & Mary, John, Ben & Lauren. In case I haven’t mentioned it;), Mary & I are “early mothering” friends, we met when she was pregnant with John, next came Marian, then their Ben, then our Ezra, then Lauren and finally Tobin – all in the span of 4 years. John was Marian’s first friend and they were able to be in the same Kindergarten & 1st grade class:) So many memories & stories between our families. Anyway, they moved a year & half ago and we hadn’t seen them since last Christmas.
We got the big Lego tub out (family Christmas present)
And, since they don’t have snow, they wanted to play outside even though it was less than 2 inches-and with all my spares in the basement, they were all outfitted with boots, gloves & snowpants. Actually they had their own coats but Johns is ours (a hand-me-down from Evan – our nephew), Ben can wear next year, then Ezra, then Tobin then on to my sister. That’s the way our coats usually go! And, Lauren is wearing one of Marian’s old ones!
The boys got to stare with their new Wii game, Marian just can’t understand boys’ infatuation with video games?? Me either!
With the Christmas season over, my hope is that everyone had a wonderful time spent with friends and family but that you all remembered the Baby at the center of it all.
I was running and listening to this great Randy Travis song that I’d never heard before, some of the lyrics:
He was the Son God sent to one and all,
put on this earth to hang there on that cross,
born to die so we could live.
He had the birthday, we got the gift.
On our Savior’s birthday, we got the gift.
If you don’t know about this wonderful gift, please talk to me or your neighbor who is a Christian or a pastor or whoever God has placed in your path to share this great news.
Happy Birthday Jesus, thank You for the gift:)
