Sleddin’

Seems a little silly posting this when it was 50 degrees yesterday but at Mark & Mary’s date night we decided to take the kids sledding and even though I’m still sporting “the boot”, I could not possibly allow the kids to go sledding without me taking pictures.  So, I didn’t actually sled, though I wanted to!

They had soooo much fun, we were out for an hour.  The hill was just big enough for the older kids to have fun with it and small enough for Lauren & Tobin to climb it themselves.

I can’t remember if I’ve blogged that Mark & Mary are officially moving away for Mark’s job.  It’s been almost happening for nearly 3 years I think.  I’m selfishly very sad about it, I will miss Mary deeply but I’ve watched in amazement at how God has worked even the smallest details out and know this is what He wants for them so I can’t be too sad.  Among about a million things I will miss is “date night”.  We have been doing date night for more than 7 years, when it was just tiny John & Marian!  I think we’ve only taken about 6 months off in all that time-mostly due to new babies.  So, I will be taking applications now for another date night family (I have to make a joke or I will cry!), they are leaving sometime in June.

The whole gang . . .

Ben getting some “air”

Kelly & Ez about to wipe out (love Ezra’s smile here!)

Lauren & Tobin were all smiles

Even after eating some snow, Tobin was blowing snow out of his mouth

Love this shot of my handsome husband:)

And, two of my favorite shots

I shot all these with my 40-150mm lens, the lighting was pretty dark.  I find it helpful to use spot metering in the snow as otherwise the lens is fooled by the brightness of snow and you frequently get underexposed shots.

I kind of like Kelly’s face as they’re about to crash!

It wasn’t a crash so much as a controlled wipeout…

  3. Trenda, I will miss you terribly too. Thanks for so many of our shared memories on your blog so I can look them up when we move!
