Another MOPS park day

Posted 2 months, 2 weeks ago at 8:10 pm.

We were at the “spinny” park last week, lots of moms, kids & fun . . .

Hannah was cracking us up as she spun & spun & giggled & giggled in this little bowl . . .

here’s what she looked like at the end . . .

a little almond snack

Noah brought this 3 tiny construction trucks and the boys played in the sand for at least 30 minutes with them

and, just a shot of Hannah that I loved

Triathlon

Posted 2 months, 2 weeks ago at 7:52 pm.

Well, I forgot about this too!  And, I’m so behind, I’m not sure I’m going to ever catch up.

Anyway, I did my 2nd sprint triathlon on June 7th-2 weeks ago now.  I finished it but it wasn’t pretty, well, it was pretty but competitively I didn’t do well.  I was hoping for top 50% in my age group this time, figuring I’m much better trained and a more confident swimmer.  But, I got about 1/4 of the way into the swim and just couldn’t breathe anymore, was just exhausted-the longest 12 minutes of my life!  I got in and to the bike and did a bit better but basically decided as I was being passed that I didn’t need to do another of these, I just couldn’t seem to push myself-just thought the swim took everything out of me.  Then, I got to the run, and figured out something was wrong!  I ran about 100 feet and had to stop, couldn’t breathe, started coughing, felt like I was having an asthma attack (which I’ve never had in my life).  I just couldn’t get a full breathe so I walked and then tried again-more coughing and heavy breathing.  I actually felt better at this point because I knew something was physically wrong with me as I’d just run 5 1/2 miles the week before with little problem.  My whole body literally felt rested and fine, just my lungs wouldn’t cooperate.  So, I walked pretty much the whole thing and encouraged the other athletes and enjoyed the scenery.  My Mom & Dad, Marian & Trish were all there rooting me on-Marian really enjoyed it.

I went to the doctor on Friday and she believes I have allergy induced “wheezing”, not sure if that’s a medical term or just one for me to understand but I now have an inhaler and ran about 2 1/2 miles yesterday without a problem!  So, now I feel like I want to do another just because I’d like to do one where I feel like I gave it everything I had.  We’ll see:)

My birthday

Posted 2 months, 2 weeks ago at 5:48 am.

Umm, forgot my birthday, I don’t have a single picture but I got to go to Cedar Point!  I went with 3 other moms (Heather, Dawn & Sarah) and we didn’t take our kids.  I haven’t been there in at least 12 years and I was an addict in the past.  When Heather & I talked about going I was very excited but as I started thinking about it, I wasn’t sure I really still had “it”-you know that ability to go on coaster after coaster without stopping and/or getting queezy.  I can’t even swing any more without getting a stomachache!  I was nervous but had to step up before it was too late and I was way too old.

We rode the Blue Streak first, one of my all-time favs and I didn’t like it.  I told the girls I wasn’t sure I still had it in me-Dawn’s respones “well, find it!”.  Then we went to the Maverick, a VERY fast one with a 95 degree hill (yes, that’s going backwards) and I LOVED it.  The park closed at 10:00pm and we were in line at 10:10 riding the Millinium one last time.

Our stats:  Millinium-3 times, Maverick-2 times, Magnum-3 times, Gemini-2 times, Blue Streak-1 time, Disaster Transport (still lame)-1 time, Wild Cat (still fun)-1 time, Wicked Twister-1 time, Mine Ride-1 time, Raptor-1 time (we wanted to hit this one at the end again but didn’t make it).

Some things have changed since the last time:

  • stretching my back while in line is needed
  • resting between rides is ok
  • my hair is grayer than most
  • we went to the bathroom about 12 times-between us we have 9 kids!
  • a chiropractic adjustment the next day is mandatory
