A wedding

Posted 4 months, 1 week ago at 1:33 pm.

Last weekend, Kelly & I went to a wedding-it was the son of one of my best friends.  Sally (who reads my blog all the time) & I have known each other since birth, so of course I remember the day Lee was born-how on earth can he be old enough to get married (I’m sure I must have changed his diaper at least once)!  This is my first wedding of a friends’ child-I think that makes me old;)  It was near my hometown, so Mom & Dad watched the kids and we spent the night (thanks Mom & Dad).  It was also Kelly’s first small town wedding-if you’ve never been to one, small town weddings have lots of fun traditions, like in addition to the garter thing, they do a teddy bear toss for all the kids, the wedding party arrived in a bus (rather than a limo).

The funniest thing-I kept recognizing everyone but it was only because they looked like their parents!  I found myself saying “now who is that groomsman? who are his parents?”, something I remember my dad always doing!

Sally asked me to take some candids at the reception, after explaining that I really don’t have the right equipment for shooting weddings and her being fine with that, I was happy to. So, these aren’t technically very good-I basically just put the camera in auto mode and let the flash fire for most of the shots but they capture some of the fun:)

We never have pictures of just the 2 of us, so before we left I had my Dad take a couple shots

the bride & groom arriving (Andrea is just gorgeous!)

Some of Sally’s nieces (I think there are 7 of them??-is that right Sal?)

Check out the air this one got . . .

Sally dancing with them, I think they were playing “Mustang Sally”

And, the girls waiting to catch that teddy bear

Lunch with friends

Posted 4 months, 1 week ago at 8:27 pm.

We were all ready to have lunch outside with friends but by the time they arrived it was sprinkling out so moved the picnic indoors

They did manage to get out and play for a little while after lunch

It’s great to watch Noah climb, he just got the all clear sign from the doctors that his juvenile arthritis is completely gone-we are all praising God for that awesome news!

Sleepy head

Posted 4 months, 2 weeks ago at 8:38 pm.

Last Sunday, Tobin fell asleep on the way home from church (he likes to wear my sunglasses).

We let him sleep awhile, then woke him up.  I guess he was still tired because he came in and fell asleep on Kelly while watching Phil win the Masters

Our marathon aid station experience

Posted 4 months, 2 weeks ago at 2:58 pm.

Our pastor decided it would be a great idea for our church to volunteer to be an aid station for a marathon (featured full, half, 10K & 5K runs).  He was going to be doing his first marathon, his wife her first 1/2 and several other members were running also.  It sounded like fun, and it was!  The race started at 7:30 am (no problem I thought, we’re up at the crack of dawn anyway), well, then I went to the aid station meeting (yes, I was surprised there needed to be a meeting too!) to discover that we were at mile 2 and we would likely need 45 minutes to set up.  So, I sent a message to our volunteers saying, “um, well, we actually need to be there at 6:45 instead of 7:30.  They, of course, came through and this is what our “ready” station looked like at race time!

Pretty impressive huh:)

We had about 20 people and we were busy!  The next day we were all joking that we were sore (seriously I was from holding cups in the air for a solid hour)

Robin & Amy having a blast

Notice Ezra’s proper holding technique, apparantly, they don’t care if your fingers are in their water just as long as they can grab it fast.

And, Ez & Don waiting for the last ones to come through

Next year, I have ideas of t-shirts & a live band:)
