Grandma & Grandpa are back

Posted 1 year, 5 months ago at 8:15 pm.

Yes, I know I’m waaay behind, between an ear infection, Kelly’s golf trip, birthday parties, 9 extra people in the house, and me being sick I’ve been quite behind.

My mom & dad came back from Arizona last week (they were gone for 2 1/2 months) and stayed with us on Friday & Saturday while Kelly was out-of-town on his golf trip (with his Dad, the official one got cancelled but they went anyway).

Do you think Marian was glad to see Grandma?

and, Ezra watching a movie with Grandpa

More to come from the busy weekend . . .

The King's Stilts

Posted 1 year, 5 months ago at 8:47 pm.

Mari had her first big school project this week.  She needed to pick a Dr. Suess book, create a story bag, with items that we made that were important to the story and then dress like a character in the book and present it to her class.  She picked out a book called The King’s Stilts, one we’d never heard of.  It was an interesting story, not the rhymey, sing-songy that most of us are familiar with Suess, Mari will tell you that the moral of the story is that you should get your work done and then play but that if you don’t have fun and play sometimes, you’ll be too sad and might not be able to do your work.  We had a lot of fun with it, Mari dressed up as the King of Binn.

Kelly made the stilts and Mari & I painted them, and the robe is a red Superman cape backwards with my white scarf pinned around the edge. And, Mari had made the crown a couple months ago just for fun:)

Kelly

I LOVE this man and thank God for him every day (well almost every day because every once in awhile I forget).  After knowing him for nearly 10 years, I still can’t believe how God blessed me by bringing him into my life.  Today is his birthday (which now-a-days gets overshadowed by Mari’s which is the 29th) and we got to go out to dinner, a very special thank you to Jackie who watched the kids on very late notice so we could go out alone.  Thank you God for creating this very special man, husband, father, son, brother, and the guy I’m madly in love with!

Dinner

Posted 1 year, 5 months ago at 8:02 pm.

A little crazy but we had dinner outside today:)  I LOVE the beginning of Spring, I get sooo excited about being outside without being bundled up-based on how much the kids have been outside in the last couple days, I think they have the bug too.

Oh, and Happy 1/2 Birthday to Tobin, he’s now offically 2 1/2 (wow!).

A fun "sick" day

Posted 1 year, 5 months ago at 7:45 pm.

Today was supposed to be a “MOP’s” day but Tobin was a little “moist”-that’s what I call it when their noses are a bit runny, eyes watering-you get the picture. Ezra seems to be about 2 days ahead of this little bug but like Grandpa Dick he never gets it as bad (we’re thankful at least one of our kids has those good genes!). Of course, they didn’t act sick at all and the weather was too beautiful to waste away inside.
so they played in the backyard

then we went for a walk

where we met some new friends, Rob & Kate, who also like to play with sticks! Rob is one day older than Ezra

came home to make PNB sandwiches

then, it was time for a nap

except after about 1 1/2 hours of trying to get them to go sleep I gave up and let them go back outside. The last time I went in to check on Tobin he was on the floor playing with his blocks. I told him he could go out and play with Ezra-he ran of course and said “at least I should put my shoes on” (his vocabulary cracks me up sometimes). They are rolling balls down the slide-on my suggestion after telling them they had to stop emptying the sandbox of sand and sliding it down the slide. Apparantly the balls were not nearly as fun (they are a toy after all) because they were quickly abandoned after a few minutes.

then, Mari came home and joined the fun

did a little bike riding and scootering, had some dinner (made by Kelly-yum!), took a bath and to bed early.
Now one would think that Tobin would be wiped out from such a day with no nap but I heard him escape his room while I was putting Mari to bed. I found him sitting at the computer so put him back to bed. Ezra was already asleep and it’s now 8:30 and I haven’t heard from him again!
