Happy Thanksgiving

Posted 1 year, 9 months ago at 9:30 pm.

We had a great day at Aunt Faye & Uncle Al’s house, delicious food and fun for all of us. Kelly’s cousin Kathie was there with her 2 kids that are close to Ezra & Mari’s ages so they ran & played the whole day.  I took a lot of pictures and will now always be shooting in “raw”-more on that later (I feel sort of cool using camera lingo!)  Here are some pictures of the day.  I think I probably took almost 200 pictures (deleted probably 100 of them as I was doing a lot of experimenting).

This one is probably my fav. . .

Ezra & Jack (born one week before Ez) playing cars (they had a lot of fun together this year) . . .

Kathie & Jack running through the house doing piggy back rides, there was a lot of this and I wish I had better pictures!

Addie & Mari doing some reading . . .

2 of my 3 beautiful nieces-Nicole & Jessica (sorry Shelby, wish I had you in this one too!) . . .

Here’s Shelby with Mari . . .

The older kids were so awesome with the little ones, we joked that they probably burned off their entire Turkey dinners giving piggy back rides and playing endless games of hide & seek!

And, here’s Aunt Kim (Kelly’s sister) amidst all of them . . .

Kim, nephew Nate (tall, handsome one), nephew Evan (shorter handsome one, you’ll have to trust me on this one as he turned away when I snapped the picture), and Tobin . . .

We managed to get a family picture, I made everyone get outside quickly (if you read my “100 things” page you’ll remember how bossy I can be).  It was going to be dark soon and we all have a tendancy to move slowly for these pictures! Anyway, I think it turned out pretty well . . .

And, here’s one of just the 5 of us . . .

More on the rest of our weekend tomorrow, I’m too tired to go through the 200 pictures I took of our weekend visit to my sisters!

What are they up to?

Posted 1 year, 9 months ago at 7:27 am.

Just a couple shots of what they’ve been up to . . .

Mari spent yesterday afternoon with Kelly doing errands, she was so well behaved that Kelly bought her some new colored pencils, can you tell how happy she is with them:)  She just loves to create.

Ezra loves writing & drawing these days, it seems like just a couple weeks ago he could manipulate and make a cirle or just a straight line, now he can draw stick figures and write his name! He holds his pencil correctly (with no teaching from us, probably just watches Mari) and is a great colorer.  All skills that Mari learned at a much later age . . .

Tobin is so funny, all you have to do is mention bath and he stops what he’s doing and starts taking his clothes off!

Oh, and he actually pee’d in the potty before his bath last night!  It’s been an on-going joke between us.  A recent conversation went something like this:

Tobin-my don’t want to wear dat diaper

Me-what do you want to wear

Tobin-my want to wear underwear

Me-you can wear underwear when you pee on the potty

Tobin-my pee in the potty?

Me-you don’t pee on the floor

Tobin-my pee on the floor?

Me-where are you supposed to pee?

Tobin-in the potty (with a big grin)

So, he totally gets it but whenever we’ve tried he just pees all over the floor and then when I let me him know it’s supposed to be in the potty, he says (ever so sweetly) “ok, Mommy” and then pees on the floor again!

Who knows, maybe this is the start of something:), we’ll be trying for real around Christmas time, when Kelly is off and we have no where to go.

Tobin's curls

Posted 1 year, 9 months ago at 6:17 am.

No, Tobin did not find my curling iron:)  This is the way he looked when he woke up in the morning. Sadly, none of our kids had any amount of hair to speak of until well after 2 years old (just take a look at Ez, he’s almost 4 and still really doesn’t have a full head of hair yet!). Tobin is yet to have his first haircut, I seriously would cut it except that I don’t think it can be improved at this point. The curls can be rather cute and he has what we call “old man hair”, it’s long in a few places but not filled in at all. So, what’s a mom to do-just enjoy the baby curls for awhile longer:)

Siblings & other stuff

Posted 1 year, 9 months ago at 10:20 pm.

I’ve discovered the one problem with this photography class–I’m hardly satisfied with any of my pictures now!  Oh well:)  The kids had such interesting interaction today, they had some really cooperative play–lots of fighting but lots of getting along too!

Mari & Ezra were treasure hunting, Mari made a map and Ezra had to find it–the treasure box was the box that Kelly brought home a turkey in and the treasure was some toy pieces (their creativity is quite amazing!). Here they are looking at the “map” together . . .

Mari reading to Tobin (she took over because she wanted me to help Ezra make a treasure map for her to follow . . .

Ez & Tobin playing together . . .

Mari “leap frogging” with Ezra (I’ll need to add that to my Get Moving page) . . .

This is a really bad picture but would you just look at Ezra-doesn’t he look like he could be in Kindergarten.  Several times I looked at him today wondering where my baby went to?

Tobin & a gallon of milk

Posted 1 year, 9 months ago at 9:41 pm.

I’m so totally bummed I do not have a picture of this but I have to share anyway.  Last night Tobin says something about wanting milk and I guess we ignored him or just didn’t move quick enough because next thing we know he’s walking towards the family room with a gallon of milk (it was almost gone), cap off, mouth around the top about ready to take a drink.  This is the way he’s always been, before he could talk, he would try desperately to get us to understand he wanted cereal or a graham cracker or a drink and if we didn’t move fast enough for his liking he was off getting it himself.  We joke about how he could be left alone in the house for a week and not have any problems fending for himself-perhaps that’s a quality of a 3rd born?
