Pool day

Posted 2 years, 1 month ago at 7:43 pm.

We went to Christy’s this afternoon, we often chuckle at how our lives have changed since we first met–at a church singles group, we even went on a missions trip together to Nicaragua.  Only 10 years later, we’ve both been married 8 years and have 5 kids between us:)

The kids had fun playing in their pool, Ezra even swam around in a floatie (a big step for him)

Tobin was not that interested until the end, then he became a jumping fool

Mari’s taking a warm-up break

They also have a trampoline, which was great fun, I even got on it but requested no pictures–next time I’ll take some:)  This is Jacob jumping

and this is Mari’s hair right after her turn (look carefully her hair sticking straight up from the static)

Today is Kelly’s dads birthday, we visited for an impromptu dinner.

We went in together with Pam & family to get him this bean bag toss game (Camp has a homemade version).

 Here’s the game . . .

and the spectators . . .

Happy Birthday Dick–you don’t look a day over 40!

The Music Lady

Posted 2 years, 1 month ago at 1:22 pm.

The Music Lady visited the library today, Mari got picked to go up front and help lead a song-she was pretty excited. John, Ben, & Lauren with Mary came and Issy & Caleb with Becky came too.  Everyone had fun, Tobin was a little challenging to contain but still fun:)  Everyone came over for PB & J after.  I’m going to hang with some friends this afternoon & tonight-I’ll explain these awesome women in a later post, Kelly will be home around 3:00pm.

Dinner in a tent

Posted 2 years, 1 month ago at 9:08 pm.

Kelly golfs on Monday nights so I’m solo and always up for something to do, so after the boys woke up I took the kids to the swimming pool, we met Karen & Riley there.  Mari got to try out her new diving sticks, she finally figured out how to get her head pointing down so she can retrieve them.  For most of the time the boys sat at the side of the pool happy to throw the sticks in. I got them in a little but they weren’t into it at all.  Finally, we were about to leave and Ezra gets in–he can touch, it’s only 2 feet.  Now, he doesn’t want to leave:)

I decided it would be a good idea to make a tent and have dinner under it tonight, just for fun and to distract Mari from the fact that we’re eating cheese pillows (cheese ravioli)–not her favorite.  Before you nominate me for cool mom of the year, I’ll tell you that I completely blew it.  Tobin stood on the bar stool and tried to climb on the counter one too many times and Mari & Ezra were whining incessantly about wanting a snack when dinner would be ready in 5 minutes.  I lost my temper, yelled at Mari, and sent her crying hysterically to her room, how does she always know exactly what it will take for me to lose it.  After we both settled down, I apologized and we had a nice talk about how hard it is sometimes to be a good mommy, especially when kids are not grateful.  I think she actually understood.  Well, tomorrow’s another day to try & get it right-I’m so grateful my kids love me anyway and I sure am glad God continuously gives us second chances.

Here’s a picture of them enjoying their dinner (we all ate under there, but I was taking the picture of course:)).  See everyone looks happy here!
