Yesterday was Mari’s birthday, it didn’t exactly goes as planned. She had been running a low grade fever on Thursday & Friday but I was hopeful that she’d be better. Not quite, she woke up with a 103 fever, we gave her medication and cancelled her morning trip to Jungle Java with Issy and called my parents & sister and told them not to come. The meds kicked in and we thought maybe she’d be better and at least Kelly’s family could come. Then at noon it reached almost 104 and no more hope for a party:( She actually took it really well and was ok with doing it next weekend. We made brownies (instead of the clown decorated cake that was in the freezer for her party) and made the best of it. Kelly made her favorites: steak, green beans (frozen) & tator tots, she managed a few bites and some of the brownie–her enthusiasm for all of it was admirable though. We had her open one of the presents we had, a ceramic pig piggy bank that you paint & decorate. She was soooo excited. Afterwards she hugged me and said the sweetest, sincerest thank you. It almost made me cry, here she missed out on all the fun of her birthday and she was truly grateful for a $7 piggy bank. In this world where many kids would have been like where is my 10 Wedkins I wanted or the Gameboy like all my friends have, we are so proud of the girl she is:) Here are a couple pictures of her day.

Once again I ask myself “who needs toys?”. Today, there was a lot of fun with laundry baskets, Mari is actually completely under one. The boys didn’t quite grasp the concept. Later, the baskets were used as a train, boats and they thought it would be fun to see if they all could fit in one basket–they can. |
Something funny Ezra has been saying alot ”You got that right Mommy”
Something funny Tobin said: I got him up from his nap today and he pointed at his diaper and said “poop” (trust me he was right:)
Something funny Mari explained: she didn’t want to eat her brocolli (which she normally loves) but she pointed out to me ”that I drank orange juice and thats kind of like a fruit”. She’s right and I’m proud that she’s understanding some nutrition.

It’s been a whirlwind day and weekend for us, probably a little too busy but here are some pictures–the kids with their baskets (notice how Tobin has Mari’s shoe on!), looking for the Resurrection eggs, playing drums before church, dressed in their best, coloring Easter eggs & having birthday cake (Kelly’s birthday was yesterday too). Hope you all had a wonderful day.

Let us not forget to thank our Lord Jesus for His saving work on the cross.
Matthew 28:5-6:
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
Or in Mari’s singing voice “He’s not dead, He’s alive, He’s not dead, He’s alive!”

Today we had a belated Christmas Eve party at my parents house (otherwise known as the homestead as my Grandpa was born in this house). Since Grandpa was in the hospital, we weren’t able to have our annual Christmas Eve party. There were 87 people and 1 dog in attendance, of course that’s not even close to everyone. Grandpa has 10 kids, 33 grandkids (i think), over 40 great grandkids (I’m not sure), and at least 2 great, great grandkids! We had an Easter Egg Hunt, we had to divide it up into 3 groupings to accomodate all the kids (400 eggs!!) and lots of food. The picture is of many of the great grandkids in attendance, and the second pix is my nephew Kashton snuggled up with my dear Grandpa:)
We aunts & uncles always tease him saying, “look what you started Dad”, he says “Mary (my Grandma) always wanted a big family”. I think she got her wish.
